Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier is set to captain the England national team for their encounter against Germany on Friday night.

The England national team have not had a permanent captain since Gareth Southgate took over as manager back in September 2016, with the likes of Gary Cahill, Joe Hart, Harry Kane, Jordan Henderson and Wayne Rooney all leading out the side over the past year or so.

It can now be revealed by Sky Sports that Southgate will hand the England captaincy to Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier when the Three Lions square off against Germany at Wembley on Friday night.
