Tottenham Hotspur had placed an extraordinary offer for Southampton star Victor Wanyama, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

It was no secret that Tottenham were pursuing the signature of Wanyama throughout the transfer window but Spurs were unable to strike a deal for the Kenyan international.

Nonetheless, it has been revealed that Spurs left no stone unturned in order to convince Southampton to part with Wanyama after tabling an extraordinary offer of £20million plus the services of either Erik Lamela or Andros Townsend in a part exchange deal.
