Tottenham midfielder Bergwijn: Why are PSV angry? We brought them €32M!

Tottenham midfielder Steven Bergwijn was well aware of the sniping he copped from Holland when he left PSV Eindhoven in January.

Among several criticisms, Bergwijn was accused of being overweight before he departed PSV.

"It did not go well with PSV at the time and I had the idea that everything would be put on me in the days surrounding the transfer," the Oranje international told De Telegraaf.

"At least I got that feeling. General manager Toon Gerbrands has fired a bit in the media, but he has also indicated that they should be happy with that deal. The other people at the club, such as John de Jong (technical manager) and Peter Fossen (lawyer), incidentally, solved it very nicely at the time."

Yet Bergwijn added, "PSV will remain in my heart forever. I will come back anyway to say goodbye. I think I can look myself straight in the mirror and say that I have kept all agreements. My agents and I have to endure quite a bit as if we came to steal money! No, we just came to 'bring' 32 million euros."
