Tottenham are hoping to finalise a transfer for Takehiro Tomiyasu before the Olympic games.
The Telegraph reports Spurs are close to reaching an agreement with Italian club Bologna to sign Tomiyasu.
The Japanese international is set to compete at this summer's Olympic Games, which is being held in his home country.
If his nation goes all the way in the competition, Tomiyasu could be busy until August 7th, which is a week before the new Premier League season begins.
The report states his signing could be done in the coming week or two, before the competition kicks off on July 23rd.
