Tottenham duo Alli, Dier impress England boss

England manager Roy Hodgson has heaped praise on Tottenham Hotspur duo Dele Alli and Eric Dier following his side's 2-0 victory over France.

Alli and Dier were making their full England debuts on Tuesday night and both players managed to impress with fine displays in the Wembley win.

Hodgson was left particularly pleased with the performances of the young Spurs pair and stated that they looked like seasoned veterans despite having little international experience.

Hodgson said: "He was fantastic. It was great that I could have the luxury of bringing him off with five minutes left to play so the crowd could show their appreciation.

"I thought apart from his goal, his whole performance throughout the game was first class, and the same applies to Eric Dier.

"Here we have two guys – both of whom having very little experience in the Premier League, both making their debut from the start, but they've played the game like they were playing in the England team for as long as we can remember."
