Tottenham chairman Levy assures Mourinho: We'll try for Bale

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has assured manager Jose Mourinho they'll do what they can to bring Gareth Bale back to the club.

Contrary to some media reports of Levy insisting the prospect of signing the Real Madrid outcast was beyond Spurs, Bleacher Report says the opposite is true.

Indeed, during their initial talks about Mourinho taking charge of Spurs, Levy insisted they would be ready to move should Bale show a willingness to return to the Premier League.

Now that he has made it clear he's open to the option, via private channels, Spurs are ready to make their move.

Real president Florentino Perez, who has a healthy relationship with Levy, is insisting Bale can leave for a knockdown £20m this summer. The key for Levy is how much of a hit on his £10m Real salary is Bale willing to accept.
