Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo was a key reason that Emerson Royal signed for the club.

The fullback chose to move to North London on transfer deadline day, departing Barcelona.

According to Marca, Emerson was not intending to leave Barca, but the club wanted the money that Spurs were offering, as they have Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto as right back options.

However, Emerson was reluctant to leave for Spurs, until he reportedly spoke with manager Nuno.
