LaLiga president Javier Tebas has paid tribute to Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

Pique has announced his retirement in the last 24 hours.

Tebas says he's "sorry" to learn of Pique's decision, though declared: "But if he is happy with your decision, go ahead.

"He leaves, perhaps not at the top because it is getting harder and harder to play.

"He will be president of Barça, without a doubt. He has three conditions for this: he has been at the club for 25 years, he knows the side of football from the side of the player and knows the sports industry from the side of the businessman. Surely he can be a great president for Fútbol Club Barcelona.

"I'm sure we'll do something. I don't think on Saturday, but Piqué deserves a tribute with more time and more thought. And thinking about what Piqué is for football, as a player and as a sports entrepreneur.

"I'm sure I'll offer him to be an Ambassador of LaLiga, like Puyol is, and I'd love for him to be."
