Tariqe Fosu and Joel Valencia leaving Brentford

Tariqe Fosu and Joel Valencia are leaving Brentford.

The pair will see their contracts allowed to expire at the end of the month.

Brentford director of football Phil Giles said: “On behalf of everyone at Brentford, I'd like to thank both Tariqe and Joel for the work they have put in with us over recent seasons.

"Tariqe, in particular, made a big contribution during our promotion season. His adaptability to multiple positions meant he was able to give us something at both ends of the pitch. All of the players who helped us get promoted in 2021 should be fondly remembered by all Brentford fans, and that very much applies to Tariqe.

"I think it's fair to say that Joel struggled a little bit to adapt to English football, especially the more physical nature of the game here. This limited his game time with us and, in recent years, he has been very unlucky with injuries too, meaning he hasn't got as many minutes as he would've wanted.

"However, whenever called upon, he made a contribution, in particular with that goal at Reading, and was a positive influence around our younger players at the training ground whenever he found himself out of the team.

"Both Joel and Tariqe will be welcome visitors back to Brentford in future, and we wish them both well in their future careers."
