Swansea City are targeting Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa.

The Sun says Swansea are chasing Spanish midfield star Mesa but face a fight with Sevilla.

Supremo Huw Jenkins is in talks with the player's club Las Palmas about a £9 million deal and has contacted the player's agents.

Sevilla are trying to land Mesa, who would be an ideal replacement for veteran Leon Britton, 34, in Paul Clement's team.

The 28-year-old is a late developer at Las Palmas after a career with lesser sides — but he is now one of the most highly regarded of his kind.
