The Italian was able to assess James up close and personal when Hungary secured a surprise victory over Wales in a Euro2020 qualifier last month.

It was a match also watched closely by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskajer and transfers chief Ed Woodward.

The Red Devils made their move for James towards the end of June and eventually completed a deal earlier this month, paying Swansea City an initial fee of 15m that could rise to 18m with add-ons.

21-year-old James has impressed so far in United's preseason tour of Australia, and Rossi thinks there is only more to come from the former Hull City winger.

Speaking exclusively to tribalfootball.com, Rossi said: "I believe that James can only grow.

"He is young and has excellent qualities, with explosiveness and speed.

"And training daily with United will give him the chance to improve in the individual tactical aspect within a short time."

James started as a forward for Ryan Giggs' Wales side in the loss against Hungary in Budapest.

Mate Patkai's 80th minute strike proved to be the winner for Rossi's side, who managed to nullify the speed of James, David Brooks and Gareth Bale.

But Rossi admits James worried his side with his blistering pace.

He added: "In the June game in Budapest we tried to limit him, I think we succeeded.

"Even in those 2/3 situations in which he escaped he created us a lot of apprehension."

Championship pair Cardiff City and Swansea are also interested.

Sankhare is known both for his physicality and versatility, and is capable of both adding grit to the midfield and creating chances in more advanced positions. He can also fill in as a left-back, which could be of interest to Blades boss Chris Wilder as he looks to secure a back-up option for Enda Stevens.

Williams, 34, spent last season on loan at Stoke City and has now become a free agent after his Everton contract expired.

The former Swansea City man knows Wales face a tough task to qualify for Euro2020, and Williams wants to be at his best to help his country.

"Everybody who knows me is aware of how passionate I am about playing for Wales and captaining the team," he told Sky Sports News.

"I've had offers from abroad and I'm not opposed to going elsewhere but staying in the UK is my priority - whether that be in the Premier League or the Championship.

"They are the leagues I need to be competing in to stay involved with Wales.

"It was difficult at Stoke and we didn't have the best of seasons but for me personally, it went well. It was a different challenge to the Premier League and difficult with the number of games, but I enjoyed it.

"I'm still in good shape and still able to do what I was doing six or seven years ago. I played 37 games last season and while it wasn't a great campaign, I think we still had the third highest number of clean sheets in the division."
