Sunderland potential top four club - Keane

Sunderland boss Roy Keane is convinced they are capable of challenging the top four.

"I'd be very disappointed if my managerial career doesn't include Champions League football at some stage," Keane told the Sunday Sun.

"But we have to be realistic. The day when Sunderland can compete for a Champions League place is a long, long way away yet.

"But is it possible? Of course it is.

"Other teams have tried to bridge that gap - Tottenham nearly did it a while ago and Everton came close this season.

"But you can't underestimate just how strong these top four sides are - and if you think they're not going to strengthen again this summer, you're living in cloud cuckoo land.

"Manchester United won the league last season and yet spent £50 million on three new players even before the season ended."
