Sunderland defender Jan Kirchhoff is looking forward to a reunion with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Kirchhoff worked with Klopp at Mainz.

“I was a youth player at Mainz when Jurgen was there and I trained under him," said Kirchhoff.

“He is a totally nice person, funny as hell and a good talker.

“I know how his game works. I saw it all the time at Mainz and Dortmund too. He plays a very fast kind of football putting a lot of pressure on opponents.

“I will be happy to see him and talk a little bit of German. And I also know Emre Can and Roberto Firmino from the Bundesliga."
