Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has confirmed that the Potters will be spending money on new players during the upcoming January transfer window.

City are just hovering above the relegation zone following a terrible first half of the season.

And in order to lift the Potters from their current predicament, Coates has revealed that the club will be investing money on new players this winter.

Coates stated: "Yes, it is our intention to improve the squad during the January window. We will definitely try and strengthen."
