Villa have drafted in striker Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge for a record 22m since earning promotion back to the Premier League.

Loan stars who helped them to victory in the Championship play-off final against Derby, Anwar El Ghazi and Kortney Hause, have also signed permanent deals, while Jota was arrived from rivals Birmingham.

The Daily Star says the Midlands club want another SIX players to ensure they stay up.

A new goalkeeper is on Dean Smith's agenda, despite Jed Steer penning a new deal last week.

Jack Butland is wanted from Stoke but at 25m could be too costly. Bournemouth also like the England international.

Neil Etheridge, who was relegated with Cardiff last season, is another name on Villa's shortlist.

Smith is keen on Bristol City defender Adam Webster, Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips and Brentford winger Said Benrahma too.

Despite not gaining promotion to the Premier League last season, Stoke do not want to sell Butland for a cut price fee.

A report from The Sun claims that teams such as Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are being put off by his price tag.

It appears that Stoke want in excess of 23 million for the England keeper.

Stoke City chief executive Tony Scholes spoke about possible transfers out of the club this summer.

He said to reporters: "Some (players) have expressed a desire to move on and it makes sense for us as well.

"Some players agreed to stay for an extra year to give us a push for promotion and it hasn't worked out.

"Take Jack as an example. Jack's on record as saying he needs to be playing in the Premier League.

"And in saying that, he is echoing what Gareth Southgate has not only told Jack, but I think without naming Jack he's said he needs his players to be playing in the Premier League.

"We recognise where Jack's at. We respect his opinion, we respect what he wants, but also we've got to look after the football club and got to make sure that if Jack is moving on, it's for a fair price."

The Daily Star says ater an impressive season on loan at West Brom, Fulham and Stoke are interested in the Toon striker.

However, Gayle has decided he wants to stay and fight for his future at Newcastle this summer.

Uncertainty over Rafa Benitez's future means Gayle believes he could have a chance of impressing a new manager if the Spaniard was to leave.

The striker spent the past season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

Despite impressing on an individual basis, he did not do enough to help his team gain promotion to the Premier League.

The Chronicle says Stoke City have shown a serious interest in acquiring Gayle.

But it will take a figure of nearly 20 million to tempt Newcastle into a sale.

With the future of Salomon Rondon uncertain, Gayle could be the main striker at Newcastle at the start of the Premier League season.

He has been of interest to a number of teams in the second tier following his impressive season with the Tykes, which culminated in promotion via a second-place finish in League One.

Lindsay made over 40 appearances for Barnsley last season and scored the goal that secured their promotion back to the second tier.

The 23-year-old began his career at Partick Thistle, and enjoyed successful loan spells at both Alloa Athletic and Airdrie.

In his final season with the Jags, the Scot's performances earned him a place in the PFA Scotland Premiership team of the year.

The Daily Mail says Villa and Bournemouth have both made enquiries for the England international and Villa are expected to make an offer this week with Stoke wanting 23million.

They have considered other options abroad but Butland's Premier League experience means Villa will put forward a bid for the 23-year-old.

Stoke are considering Joe Hart as an experienced replacement should Butland depart.

Meanwhile, a Villa bid for Brentford's Said Benrahma was rejected last week while Nottingham Forest continue to price out Joe Lolley from a potential move to Villa Park also.

Stoke City stopper Butland is their priority but they know they are at risk of missing out to other clubs.

If that is the case, they will move for Burnley keeper Hart instead.

The former England No1 is also interesting Blackburn Rovers and the Potters as a replacement for Butland.

Sky Sports says Villa have joined Bournemouth in the chase for England goalkeeper Butland.

However, it is thought a bid in excess of 20m would be needed to persuade Stoke City to sell him.

Butland still has two years left on his Stoke contract, but the club's player of the season is keen on a move back to the Premier League - or abroad - in order to improve his chances with the national team.

Villa are in the market for a top class keeper whilst Norwegian international Orjan Nyland continues to recover from his ruptured Achilles, and with youngster Jed Steer not thought to be ready for a full season in the Premier League.

The Sun says the Potters are braced for 20million bids for Jack Butland to return to the Premier League.

And they will launch a bid for his old Three Lions rival Hart, 32, should they lose Butland.

Hart lost his place at Burnley mid-season when Tom Heaton returned to full fitness and claimed the No1 jersey at Turf Moor.

Blackburn are also in the queue to secure Hart's signature this summer.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray wants a new No1 and the 32-year-old has emerged as a top target.
