The ex-West Brom and Stoke City striker was due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court in north west London this morning to answer the charge, but didn't turn up, reports the Mirror.

Former England Under-21 international Berahino, 26, who now plays for Belgian First Division club Zulte Waregem, was slapped with the five-figure fine after being convicted of drink driving for a second time earlier this year.

Berahino, who was born in Burundi but received political asylum in Birmingham while still a child, was banned from driving for 30 months and ordered to fork out a total sum of 75,870 in fines and court costs.

He was given until September 7 to pay up.

The Swiss collected a Champions League winner's medal last season after moving from Stoke City.

"I have prevailed," the Switzerland international told Schweizer Illustrierte.

"Not a second did I regret the move to Liverpool. Many have written me off in Stoke, but who can claim to have switched directly from a relegated to a Champions League winner?

"I know what I can and that I'm a good match for English football. And I earned the contract in Liverpool with my services in Stoke. It is simply a step forward in my career where everyone would like to play.

"I was in the starting XI in the return leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, which will go down in club history. And because of my two goals to defeat everlasting rival Manchester United, they still often call me a legend."

The Potters have begun the search for Nathan Jones' replacement.

Stoke are sacking Jones because of his disastrous nine-month reign and they are bottom of the Championship with just two points.

The axe could fall today and the Potters' hierarchy were keen to try and line up a successor before they dismissed Jones.

They approached Hughton, who has been out of work since being sacked by Brighton at the end of last season, but the former Newcastle boss wants to wait in the hope of landing another Premier League job, says the Mirror.

Hughton's refusal is the only reason why Jones is still at his post and he has been a dead man walking since last week.

Jones was speaking after the Potters lost 1-0 at home to fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town.

He admitted: "If I'm not getting the results I expect the inevitable to happen. I'm not concerned. I was concerned after four days of taking the job, but I'm not concerned now.

"The league table doesn't lie after 10 games, we just haven't been good enough. It's a wonderful club and the fans and owners have given me lots of patience, but we've lost our way and something has to change.

"I've had nine months to turn things around and, for one reason or another, I've not done it. It's been tough on me and my family, but I just feel sad. It's a great club but it just hasn't worked out.

"I couldn't have given it any more, I've given it everything I can."

The result means that it is another week spent at the bottom of the Championship for the Potters.

Manager Nathan Jones had already spoken about the security of his position before the game.

Now it appears that he is only a matter of time from getting the sack, given the club's poor run of form all season.

It was a tight game between the two Championship sides, with both teams having chances to score first.

But eventually it was Juninho Bacuno who came off the bench to seal the win for the Terriers away from home.

The club have two points from nine games and los 3-2 to Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

Jones has been at the club since January but has been unable to turn around their fortunes.

He said to reporters about his position: "If results don't improve, I fully expect a decision to be made on my future. I fully expect it and I have no argument about it, absolutely not.

"If I'm honest, if this wasn't such the club that it was, and has the owners it has, I would've been gone a while ago because my results haven't been good enough and I know that.

"I'm under no illusions, just as I knew in my previous job I was not untouchable, but, I was in a very secure position because my win rate was 55 per cent and we'd been promoted and we'd changed everything about it.

"We've changed a lot here but we haven't got results and that's the be-all and end-all. So trust me, I fully expect if I don't get results in the next few games that a decision will be made on my future."

Berahino has expressed his disappointment at the ex-Liverpool fullback's comments about his attitude and questioned why he never confronted him during their time together at Stoke.

"Glen's got his own opinion. I actually want you to write this: I respect Glen Johnson's career that he's already produced," he told The Times in an interview.

"That's his opinion. If that's how he felt, it's funny that he's coming out now on radio when the disappointing thing for me is I had so much respect for him.

"I sat next to him in the changing room. There was never one time he called me aside and said about my behaviour or anything.

"He's a well respected player, he's a senior player. He's got so many accolades, so I was a bit disappointed that he had to go to the radio to say that.

"He could have said something when I was going through a tough period at Stoke, but if that's how he feels then I can only respect his opinion and I wish him all the best for what he is doing in his career now."

N'Zonzi, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Roma, spent six seasons in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City before joining Sevilla in 2015.

Crouch said, "I have wanted Arsenal to address the defensive balance of their side for years and never understood why they didn't buy Steven N'Zonzi.

"Steven played with me at Stoke and he would have been perfect to provide protection in midfield.

"He ended up going to Sevilla for 7million and it was madness Arsenal allowed that to happen.

"The best sides spot their deficiencies and address them to progress."

The Manchester United legend had a go at Walters for crying about the death of his mother and brother in a television interview.

Keane referred to Walters as a "bluffer."

"I was never scared as a player. When you get bullies I always try to do the right thing and stick up to it," Walters told JOE about Keane.

"When I get asked something I just tell the truth. So that has got to him a little bit and he's had a little nibble back.

"I really don't know why people pay attention, why they get that worried off Roy.

"Because, yes he was a good player, an unbelievable player, known as a hard man on the pitch, but there is a difference between being a hard man on the pitch and being a tough guy.

"Just because someone has a sharp tongue or a stare, it doesn't make them a tough guy."
