Tottenham hero Chris Waddle has urged Eric Dier to keep it simple when playing for England.

Waddle wrote for the Daily Express: "Eric Dier has been a revelation for England since coming into the team and can be a very effective player for many years to come.

"There were times, however, in the win over Wales where it looked like he was trying to pass like Wayne Rooney and play killer balls. He doesn't need to do that and if I could change anything from last Thursday it would be to say to him to go back to doing the simple things well.

"Dier's job is to 'win it and give it'. He provides terrific balance. Just concentrate on doing this because as we saw against Russia in England's opening game he is outstanding when that is the case."
