Sporting KC made a serious attempt to sign Cristiano Ronaldo before his commitment to Al Nassr.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports the MLS outfit made their attempt with Ronaldo still under contract at Manchester United.

He reported: "Sporting Kansas City were really trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

"SKC held a meeting before (the Piers) Morgan interview then one more with concrete talks about the prospects of CR7 playing in Kansas City commercially.

"Salary package was huge but Ronaldo decided for Al Nassr move."
