Southampton manager manager Selles: We need to find more goals

Southampton manager manager Ruben Selles insisted the players know their true level.

The Saints are doing everything they can to stay up this season, despite their current position in the relegation zone.

Selles has overseen improvement in performances and results, but knows that playing Manchester City at the weekend is the toughest test of all.

Speaking ahead of the match, Selles told reporters: “The results are always key but we have the target to put our performances on the pitch, get the results and be there.

“In the dressing room, it is different because they know they are good enough to do it. We are still there and we are going to fight for it.

“But I have not looked at the next fixtures. We are only looking at Manchester City. We need to find more goals in our team and this is a good question."

He continued: “We have been working on our principles and I think we have some things for the game against Man City. We need to make an evolution.

“I have said to the boys, we had the time to receive and put things together. It's gone now and it's time to improve, we need to get the last bit of the offensive mentality.

“This is the time to go one step forward. We have been working on the process and the first part with six or seven games on it now sees a team with identity in it.

“We have identity with pressure and possession but of course, we miss some of the final points. Now, the first part of the process is done. Now, we need to perform better in the things we do."
