Southampton manager Hasenhuttl impressed by Walcott work rate

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has been impressed by Theo Walcott's work rate.

The veteran winger returned to St. Mary's this summer in a loan deal from Everton.

And when asked what he has been impressed by about Walcott's impact so far, boss Hasenhuttl told the Daily Echo: "When he's come in the team, he still must immediately learn a lot of things because we do things differently.

"What is impressing from his side is the workload. I'm not sure if he can always push it now to the next and to the next game.

"I think the first two games were very intense for him and the next one comes three or four days later.

"So we must pay attention also because he's not used to the intensity of the game we want to play, but against the ball it was a fantastic game (at Villa), with the ball I'm sure he can do it much better – at the end he lost a few balls I didn't like.

"But I think he learns very quickly and he must get more confident on the ball and with all the exercises we do, I think he will do.

"He will become stronger in this part of the game and then he's definitely a player that can help us and this is why we tried to sign him."
