Southampton boss Pellegrino contemplates unleashing Carrillo & Gabbiadini

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino is considering handing starts to Manolo Gabbiadini and Guido Carrillo for his side's Premier League clash against Newcastle on Saturday.

Carrillo, who arrived at the Saints in January on a club-record deal from Monaco, has yet to net his first goal for the team.

While it is unlikely that Pellegrino will opt to change formation and play two forwards, there is a chance that he could utilise Gabbiadini up front alongside Carrillo.

He said: "Yes I consider. Always we consider a lot of options.

"Obviously why I think the moment is important is because when you have more pressure in the box and in every single decision if you are stronger in one side you are a little bit weaker on one side.

"It is one possibility. It's one possibility because they played against Burnley the last minute a little bit more.

"It depends on the moment of the game. We have played with two strikers other games and different profiles of players and it's one possibility."
