Southampton's new boss Nathan Jones labelled Romeo Lavia a “wonderful talent" at the weekend.
The Saints were defeated 2-1 by Liverpool in Jones' first game in charge of the club, after Ralph Hasenhuttl's sacking.
Despite not being able to call on Lavia during the game, due to a small muscle injury, Jones lavished praise on the starlet.
"It was just cramp. We've got to realise he's only 18 years old," Jones told the Daily Echo.
"And to come and play how he did at Anfield with that freedom, shows he's a wonderful talent.
"He'll get better because we have to work with him.
“In possession he is wonderful but out of possession we need to work with him and he needs to get better.
“Once he does that, he'll be some talent."
