Sheffield Wednesday waiting on approval for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes

Sheffield Wednesday hope their deal for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes is confirmed today.

After racing to get the deal done before Tuesday's deadline, the Owls must now wait to discover whether all the paperwork was completed in time.

The 26-year-old Rhodes has been surplus to requirements at the Riverside after they signed strikers Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford.

A number of Championship clubs have been interested in Rhodes including Fulham and Aston Villa, but had been reluctant to meet his valuation of at least £9m.

Boro also allowed his former strike partner David Nugent to leave Teesside earlier this month - he joined Derby County.
