Shearer: Man City striker Haaland has everything to be perfect centre-forward

Former England captain Alan Shearer believes Manchester City ace Erling Haaland is only just getting started.

Haaland finished his first season with City with a mountain of goalscoring records and the Treble.

"He's only 22 and still learning, and he's got a lot to learn still, and when he does that's the scary thing of what he will then be able to achieve, because he is only going to get better. I know when I was 22 I was still learning the game, still improving," Shearer states in Harry Harris' new book, 'Manchester. 'Art of Goalscoring - Greatest Goalscorers'.

"I have made this point already that if you are going to build the perfect centre-forward, then you would build one who is quick, build one who is good in the air, build one with a very good first touch, build one with movement and one who can use their left or right feet, and Haaland has all of these attributes.

"But he is not the finished article, and you would be mad to think that, because he is still learning at his age, still going to get better. One of the reasons for that will be that he is learning from one of the great coaches who tries different things and will open Haaland's eyes to different aspects of his game, and he is also playing in a side that are serial winners, lifting the Premier League title time after time.

"So a great coach, world-class players and such success rate is going to guarantee him goals. That team will create five or six chances a game for him, and if he is on his game - which he has been virtually all season - he can take three or four of those chances he will have half a chance of one season ending up with THE biggest record of goals in one season."
