Sevilla coach Vincenzo Montella felt he was poorly treated at AC Milan.
Montella was sacked by Milan earlier this season.
“We're also paid to be scapegoats," he told Radio Anch'io Sport.
“I did the best I could, making some mistakes. There were about 10 new players coming from other Leagues, many of them without international experience.
“Some were expecting immediate results, but our players had never won things and therefore it took some time for them to adapt.
“I think we should've been more patient. I even said this with our board members. We hoped to start well so we'd get some confidence.
“Milan in the Champions League? I don't know, I'm not really following Serie A, but they're coming back strongly, also because Inter and Lazio are both slowing down in front of them. They're in the Champions League race."
