Saint Etienne and Nantes are eyeing Newcastle United winger Gabriel Obertan.

The Daily Star Sunday says Obertan, 26, has figured prominently under new Toon boss Steve McClaren.

But the £13million signing of fellow Frenchman Florian Thauvin, 22, from Marseille means Obertan faces the prospect of fewer first-team opportunities.

And Obertan, who moved from Old Trafford to Tyneside for £3m four years ago, is in the final year of his contract.
