Romeo Lavia has apologised to Southampton fans after their collapse at home to Newcastle United.
The Belgium under-21 international made his first Premier League appearance since sustaining a hamstring injury against Chelsea back in August.
Lavia came off the bench to replace the injured Juan Larios after 34 minutes at St Mary's, with the score at 0-0.
But goals from Miguel Almiron, Chris Wood, Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes earned Eddie Howe's side a comfortable three points.
A Tweet posted from Lavia's Twitter account post-match read: “Can only apologise for letting our fans down today.
“You don't deserve this. We must pick ourselves up and show a different face and spirit in the next game."
