REVEALED: Liverpool boss Klopp rejected Son, Lewandowski to demand Nunez signing from 'perplexed' FSG

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp demanded the €100m signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica ahead of Heung-min Son and Robert Lewandowski, it has been revealed.

El Pais says Nunez is a 'glaring blemish' on Klopp's success in the transfer market of recent years.

The report adds Liverpool's owners were left 'perplexed' when the German dismissed any concerns over the forward and that Klopp was warned by club staff he was taking a 'huge risk' by sanctioning his purchase.

Summer moves for Tottenham pair Son and Richarlison, as he was leaving Everton, and Barcelona ace Robert Lewandowski, before his departure from Bayern Munich, were said to have been on the table, only to be 'flatly ruled out' by Klopp.

After being sent off against Crystal Palace, Nunez made his return to action in last weekend's Merseyside derby, starting from the off, but was unable to get on the scoresheet despite fashioning a number of chances.
