But he admitted afterwards that whistling from fans is out of his control.

With Madrid making a slow start with two home draws in LaLiga, there were boos at Bernabeu for the Welshman who was unable tto lift the team in the absence of the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo.

"These things are part of football and you cannot do anything about it. You have to work hard so it doesn't happen.

"The most important thing here is the win and three points. It was a game that we needed."
