Prandelli: Atalanta can defeat Liverpool

Former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli says Atalanta can beat Liverpool in the Europa League.

The two teams have been drawn in the quarterfinals.

Prandelli told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Fate has drawn a fascinating game, wonderful for the fans. And it won't just be great at Anfield, but also in Bergamo. Gasperini and the club made it possible to bring Liverpool back to Bergamo.

“Yes, they can (win), even if the Reds are very strong. But these are matches where you'd like to be there 100%. And so, when you go on the pitch, you give everything.

“I think that for Klopp, facing Atalanta could become an ordeal. Nobody in England plays like them, Klopp has no direct references in the Premier League.

“The constant pressure (is their strongest weapon), in every area of the pitch, done with reason. And then the cheek with which they face their opponents.

“Gian Piero deserves a statue in Bergamo… Together with him, the Percassi family. The solidity and mentality of the owners have done a lot. Behind teams that play well and express themselves like this, there is always great ownership."
