Pellegrini not worrying about Man City's Champions League past

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has shrugged off his side's poor Champions League record and instead is focusing on the club's future.

Pellegrini's side hosts Sevilla on Wednesday night with the club hoping to get their second win in this year's competition.

When asked about City's past results in the competition, Pellegrini shrugged off the negativity: "I don't know exactly the statistics, but if they are the numbers then, of course, we must improve.

"But we are thinking about the present and this one game, not what has happened in the past. We didn't play well against Bayern Munich in the first season I was here, but after that we beat them here. We also won 15 points in the first season.

"I hope we are just thinking about qualifying from the group and not what has happened in the past with different moments, different teams and different seasons. It is difficult to compare what happened two seasons ago."
