The Newcastle United Supporters' Trust is demanding manager Steve Bruce resign.
The Trust are a democratically elected body that is recognised by the Premier League and spoke to the club on behalf of their members.
Chairman Greg Tomlinson is quoted by the Evening Chronicle saying: "It's clear from the feedback that we have had from our members that the overwhelming feeling is that the manager needs to go. Enough is enough.
"We have refrained from calling for the manager to go to this point. We said in January something needs to change - that could have been bringing players in in January.
"We were told the club could not afford that due to the pandemic, which is obviously something that other clubs have communicated as well. But it's clear the way the way things are going we are heading for relegation.
"We have approached the club and represented our members views that the manager must go because we feel we're hurtling towards relegation.
"Obviously they know there's a lot of emotion around the situation at the moment but we felt we needed to speak on behalf of our members so we represented that to the club and were told those views relayed to the very top of the club."
