Newcastle United forward Chris Wood believes that team-mate Allan Saint-Maximin has the potential to be top class.

The French winger has been an exciting and creative outlet for the Magpies since manager Eddie Howe took over a year ago.

Despite having injury issues recently, Wood believes Saint-Maximin will play a critical role in the second half of the season for the club.

"We have a lot of good players here and Allan is definitely one of them," Wood told Eurosport.

"He shows a lot of talent on the field and on the training ground and has the potential to achieve anything he wants.

“I think in the future he can be one of the best in the world."
