Newcastle United have jumped into the battle for FC Basel striker Arthur Cabral.

The Brazilian has emerged as a January target for Barcelona, where they're seeking cover for Sergio Aguero after his heart scare last month. Leeds United are also keen and prepared to outbid Barca for the striker.

Now Goal Brasil is reporting Newcastle are making a move for Cabral.

The Toon made contact with Cabral's management team just last week and are preparing to put an offer to the striker and also FCB.

Like Leeds, Newcastle are willing to bid cash for Cabral, while Barca would prefer an inital loan arrangement.
