Newcastle great Asprilla doing what he can to assist struggling Parma

Faustino Asprilla has revealed that he has joined the chorus of people trying to help embattled Italian club Parma.

The former Newcastle United forward had two spells with the Gialloblu during his playing days and is now looking to assist them as they continue to experience financial uncertainty.

"It's a shame what's happening. I'm here, in Colombia, looking for ways to help my former club. I spoke with several players to see if there's anything we can put up for auction," the former Colombia international told RCN Radio.

"The crisis has occurred because of poor management at the club in recent years. The players can't even transfer away.

"It's very rare for European teams to be in a situation like this, it hardly ever happens."
