Newcastle United are making a late move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
The Mirror says Toon boss Steve Bruce will make a last gasp bid to land Giroud as he completes a loan deal for Tottenham fullback Danny Rose.
Attention is turning to offensive reinforcements after Rose landed on Tyneside for a medical.
Bruce wanted Giroud earlier in the transfer window but thought he'd lost out when Inter Milan moved in with a two and a half year deal.
But that fell through and a £3m loan fee must be paid to land the experienced Chelsea striker.
