Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar dedicated his brace to the home support after their 3-0 win over Cardiff City.

The Magpies had gone five games without a victory and not tasted a home win since November 10, against AFC Bournemouth, until Schar's double set them on their way for three important points.

Speaking to the Evening Chronicle after the game, Schar said: “I love to play for Newcastle. With our fans it gives me such a great feeling.

“Our supporters are brilliant home and away. We want to give them something back.

“When you score a goal like that see all those faces going crazy and smiling and celebrating it is the best feeling you can have as a player.

“It was a crucial win too, so it's great."
