Newcastle defender Krafth: We're not playing just to be safe

Newcastle defender Emil Krafth says the players have bigger ambitions than Premier League safety.

Krafth has rejected claims the players already have their minds on the summer break.

He said: "We want to aim as high as possible. It is not just about being safe or not, it's much more.

"What we want to do is take every opportunity we have and finish as high as we can. We want to win every game if we're honest. We want to finish as close to the top as we can. It's never just been about being safe."

Victory over Leicester would put Newcastle back in touch with the top 10 of the Premier League and give them a chance of their first top half finish since 2018. Of course, few Geordies will be getting too carried away by such a prospect especially as Necwastle had no wins in the board up until December.

But Krafth said: "The lads were brilliant against Wolves and that was a massive win. We deserved it because we worked so hard. Now we look to the next game."
