Newcastle boss Eddie Howe feels landing another Anthoy Gordon in January is unlikely.
Gordon is a year into his move from Everton.
"It sounds quite simple but when you're sort of inside that, it's never that easy," Howe told reporters. "Yes, of course, we would look at every situation and every transfer on its merits and if we felt it made the squad stronger, that would be something we would be open to.
"But in my experience with this window, those types of deals aren't out there, with the ability to bring in players on long-term deals.
"Anthony's transfer last season wasn't a normal January transfer. I think that was because of Everton's financial issues at the time. It was the only reason that we were able to sign him. I don't think that there are many of those out there."
