Chelsea are ahead of Real Madrid and Manchester United in the race to sign Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski, who is widely considered to be among the best forwards in world football, according to The Sun.
Bayern will be naturally reluctant to part ways with the Poland international who has gone on to net 139 goals for the club, however the fact that the player changed agents suggests that he is considering a fresh challenge.
The new agent of Lewandowski, Pini Zahavi, is a friend of Blues owner Roman Abramovich and also helped the Russian tycoon to purchase the London giants in 2003.
Though Chelsea have Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata within their ranks, neither player has managed to fill the void that was left by the departure of Diego Costa.
Giroud has so far scored one goal for the Blues which came in the FA Cup, while Morata is currently on a poor run of form and has not managed to find the back of the net in 2018.
