Murphy: Rodgers Leicester departure bizarre

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy gave his thoughts on Brendan Rodgers' departure from Leicester City.

The Foxes sacked their long serving coach, who had been at the King Power Stadium for four years.

Rodgers, who won the FA Cup with the club, has left them in serious relegation danger.

"Once the dust settles, Brendan [Rodgers] will look back and be very proud," Murphy said on Match of the Day 2.

"I think Leicester supporters will all be angry now and frustrated at where they're at. It's not all been Brendan's fault, let's get that right, I think they'll look back on his time as successful and a good period for Leicester.

"I think it was a bizarre one because they turned a corner, I was at a couple of games earlier in the season and they were winning games again and they were looking confident.

"Then the World Cup came and they were out of relegation comfortably. Then they came back from the World Cup and the wheels fell off again. Very rarely do you see that, where a team bounces back and then drops back in."
