Monchi handed new role at Aston Villa as part of restructure

Aston Villa chief Monchi has taken up a new position at Villa Park.

With Johan Lange leaving Villa to take the technical director's post at Tottenham, the club has restructured their management team.

Monchi, current president of operations at Aston Villa, will be in charge of leading the new structure for their international and youth development academies.

As indicated by Aston Villa, the academy director, Mark Harrison, will continue to focus on UK operations from Bodymoor Heath and will “report directly" to the Cadiz manager, while Matthew Kidson, who will replace Lange as director of Global Development, will oversee international youth affairs.

“This is an exciting new chapter for the club, which seeks to discover, nurture and successfully develop young talent both in the United Kingdom and abroad," Aston Villa stated on their website.
