Former Southampton boss Lawrie McMenemy has likened Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling to Bobby Stokes.
Reflecting in England's run to the semifinals of Euro 2020, McMenemy wrote for the Daily Echo: "The England player who has perhaps caught the eye the most so far is Raheem Sterling. He's got three goals now in the tournament.
"I didn't realise how many caps he's got – 65 in total. I looked at him compared to the old days with the 1976 FA Cup winning team at Saints, as a Bobby Stokes-type.
"Bobby was surrounded up front by internationals like Peter Osgood and Mick Channon and was expected to be a worker and a grafter.
"Guess who popped up to score the winner at Wembley in the final for us? Little Bobby."
