Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren is reportedly frustrated by the lack of public support from Magpies managing director Lee Charnley, as speculation about the former England boss' future at St James' Park continues to mount.
The Daily Mirror is reporting McClaren spoke with Charnley over the phone this week, but received no assurances that his job with Newcastle was safe.
It is understood more talks are set to take place on Thursday, ahead of Newcastle's clash with Premier League leaders Leicester City next Monday.
The relegation-threatened Magpies currently sit in 18th spot on the Premier League ladder, one point from safety.
