Marcao: Sevilla can get me to World Cup; I'm not here to replace Diego Carlos

Marcao is delighted to have signed for Sevilla.

The Brazilian defender has joined Sevilla's preseason camp in South Korea, having arrived from Galatasaray.

"My teammates have received me very well, I knew Fernando from playing with him for six months (in Istanbul) and with the others it has been very easy too," he stressed.

He added that with his new coach, Julen Lopetegui, he still has "a lot of time to talk and see how he wants things", although he "likes" his training methods a lot, "talking to the players and having confidence in them".

The 26-year-old also said, "I am in the best moment of my career, I have played in Europe, I have more experience and maturity and I am ready for new challenges. I want to win all the games and compete one hundred percent, and one of my goals is to go to the national team. That's why I also chose Sevilla.

Marcao pointed out that he wants to make his own way as a Sevilla player.

"Diego Carlos (who transferred to Aston Villa) made his story as a great player. I have now come to make mine at Sevilla FC. You are going to see a player who is going to fight with his teammates all the time, every second, every metre."
