Man Utd youth coach Binnion lays out Gore plan

Manchester United youth coach Travis Binnion heaped praise on young talent Dan Gore this week.

United's Under-19 side were impressive on Tuesday in the UEFA Youth League against Galatasaray's U19s.

Despite a hectic beginning to the game, United's kids eventually settled and managed to win the contest 3-0.

"He has to play," Binnion explained about Gore being involved despite getting a senior debut in the League Cup recently.

"He wants to play for the first-team and credit to the manager and staff, they might look at the game [Galatasaray] and think what are the chances of Dan getting on the pitch?

"With certain players back, he might get on the bench, but the manager looks after their development and he wants Dan and Omari to keep playing, stay sharp and bring good habits to the group. And it's a test for them, let's get it right.

"[Darren] Fletch and others here today will be looking at those two players and thinking 'What are you like mentality-wise'. They know they've got quality, but they're looking at whether can they do what's required today to help a younger group of players."

He continued: "I think Dan has always had that confidence, but he now has the experience and he's having success, I don't remember too many games over the last two and half years that Dan Gore has played in that the team has actually lost.

"He wasn't in the Bolton game, we'd probably lose that game regardless, but he played against Stockport and he makes a huge difference to everyone around him because of his mentality. He gives others confidence and allows them to play.

"He leads by example, so he's done that since I came to the football club. I think he's progressing really well, the manager thinks that as well and he was rewarded last week. He has the mentality to keep kicking on, I've got no doubt about that."
