Manchester City were interested in Aaron Ramsey earlier this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, some influential people at City were more keen on the Arsenal midfielder than manager Manuel Pellegrini was on Jack Wilshere.

The Sky Blues were credited with a large interest in Gunners midfielder Wilshere but it has since been revealed that the 2014 Premier League champions were in fact more strongly absorbed in Wales international Ramsey.

However, talks between the two clubs never went further than an amicable chat amongst chief executives Ferran Soriano and Ivan Gazidis.
