Man City upbeat on chances of winning Bellingham battle

Manchester City are upbeat over their chances of signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

Despite reports suggesting Bellingham will be on his way to Real Madrid, sources at the Etihad are confident the idea of working under Pep could swing things in City's favour, says The Sun.

With Pep Guardiola signing a contract with City until 2025, and Bellingham's former Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland at the club, the teenage sensation could be destined for Manchester.

What side of Manchester that is remains to be seen. Last week, it emerged that Manchester United will throw their hat in the ring for Bellingham's signature alongside their long-term target Frenkie De Jong.

United thought they had won the race to sign Bellingham after the youngster and his parents visited the club's Carrington training base where he met Sir Alex Ferguson and other club officials.

The Old Trafford hierarchy will try again next summer and hope to sway Bellingham by offering him a key role in United's future.

Bellingham scored his first England goal on his World Cup debut in a 6-2 rout against Iran and played an integral role in Gareth Southgate's midfield throughout the tournament.
