Manchester City were handed a boost ahead of their Champions League fixture with Borussia Monchengladbach.

City take on the Bundesliga outfit in Germany on Wednesday night in their second Group D Champions League match following their opening day loss to Juventus.

On Tuesday, a key trio trained with the main group in what could be a massive plus for Manuel Pellegrini who is desperate to return to winning ways having lost three of their past four outings in all competitions.

Midfielder Yaya Toure, who was subbed off in the second half of Saturday's 4-1 loss at Tottenham with a hamstring injury, was present at training and is a chance to take his pace in the starting eleven at Stadion im Borussia-Park.

Playmaker David Silva, who has missed the past two weeks with a calf problem, also trained while goalkeeper Joe Hart, who was on the bench with a minor back strain on the weekend, took part.

However, City are to be without captain Vincent Kompany, fellow central defender Eliqauim Mangala, striker Wilfried Bony, midfielder Fabian Delph and left-back Gael Clichy for the vital clash.
