Man City star Aguero scoops North West award

Sergio Aguero has been named the Player of the Year at the North West Football Awards.

The Manchester City striker picked up the top individual gong at Emirates Old Trafford but was not available to collect the award in person.

Aguero was rewarded for a brilliant 2015 which saw him help current league leaders City to a second-placed finish in the Premier League last season.

It was a successful night for City who had Jill Scott take out the Women's Player of the Year prize.

Other award winners included Everton captain Phil Jagielka, who took out the Goal of the Year award for his stunning striker against Merseyside rivals Liverpool last season, Preston North End's Simon Grayson who nabbed the Manager of the Year prize and Blackburn Rovers' Marcus Olsson won the Championship Player of the Year.
