Man City skipper Kompany hoping Iheanacho kicks on after first Premier League goal

Kelechi Iheanacho netted his debut Premier League goal in just his second appearance for Manchester City on the weekend.

The 18-year-old Nigerian striker came off the bench to replace Wilfried Bony before helping himself to a 90th-minute winner at Crystal Palace on Saturday, delighting his captain Vincent Kompany.

"You tell me about him! He's the mystery man," Kompany told reporters.

"He's been around the club for a while, had a bit of difficulty sorting out his papers, work permit and stuff, but always been a great talent.

"He's had a really good pre-season - even when he didn't play well he scored.

"At the moment it looks like he's third in the pecking order, and at his young age and at this kind of club, it's a massive achievement already.

"So for him to score I can only hope that he's going to score even more for us. It's great for the club to have a young player coming through."
